Getting Started:

Installation:

Uploading To Server:

  1. BACK UP YOUR WORDPRESS DATABASE!
    It is always good practice to make regular backups when installing new plugins!
  2. Download Blogging Toolbox to your Desktop or other easily accessible place on your computer.
  3. Locate your downloaded file and extract the contents. Be sure to retain directory structure exactly as it is within the zipped file.
  4. Next, Upload BloggingToolBox to your ‘ /wp-content/plugins/ ‘ directory using your favorite FTP program.

Activating The Plug-In:

  1. First, you will need to log in with your admin name and password to the WordPress installation where you uploaded Blogging Toolbox
  2. Once in the admin, navigate to “PluginsShow Me Where →
  3. Click “Activate” below “Blogging Toolbox
  4. Navigate to the bottom of your left side admin menu and look for “Blogging ToolboxShow Me Where →
  5. When you arrive at this screen, you’ll see a registration box, you’ll need to fill in your name and email address to activate the plugin. Below the name and email form, you’ll see check boxes beside the various plugins included in Blogging Toolbox, check all the ones you wish to enable. Show Me Where →

  6. Once you click “Activate Selected” at the bottom of the page, you’ll receive an email to the address you specified in the field. In this email, will be a link to activate your 30 Day Free Trial! Click the link and you’ll be directed to MyInstantPlugins.com. Show Me Where →
  7. Now your installation of Blogging Toolbox is active, return to your website and click “Reload My Licensing Info” at the bottom of the page. Show Me Where →

    You can update your license information at any time by changing your name and email address and clicking “Update Info” at the bottom of the page

  8. You’re Done! It’s time to get using Blogging Toolbox!

Configuration:

MyInstantWidget has 2 main configuration options outside of the individual widget customization:

  • How Many Widgets Per Widget Area (Sidebar)
  • Show / Hide “Powered By MyInstantWidget” link.

To access these features, click “Blogging Toolbox” in your WordPress Left Side Admin Menu. The menu will expand to show the plugins you currently have licensed.

Usage:

Getting Started With MyInstantWidget

Note: This guide assumes you have basic WordPress usage knowledge. If you’re new to WordPress, please see our video walkthroughs located here to get a little more familiar with the interface and features.

  1. To utilize the functionality of MyInstantWidget, first you’ll need to make sure the Blogging Toolbox is enabled on your site. (See Here For More Info)
  2. Once Blogging Toolbox is active, and you’re logged in as a user with publishing / editing privileges on your WordPress site, you’ll navigate to “Appearance” on the left side of your admin menu, and select “Widgets”
  3. Depending on your site’s theme and configuration, you may have many available widgets and widget areas. MyInstantWidget works well in any environment!
  4. To utilize MyInstantWidget features, first select an active widget you’d like to modify.
  5. At the top of this widget, click the link “Edit Using MyInstantWidget” ((include graphic))
  6. A new pop-up will appear, with advanced functions, for this widget.

There are many configurable options in MyInstantWidget:

  • Display Options:
    This section allows you to select if this widget is to be displayed or not, and if so, who can view it.

    • Display Status
      Options are “On” to make it visible. “Off” to hide it from the live portion of the site.
    • Login Status
      Everyone – Allows all visitors to see this widget
      Logged In - This only allows logged in and verified members of your site to view the widget.
      Not-Logged-In – This sets the widget to display if users are not logged into the site. Useful for membership sites or targeted ads!
    • Pages
      In this section, you can select which pages the widget will display on.
      Settings include the ability to select from a hierarchy or by Page ID. It is also possible to exclude pages using the Page ID
    • Blog Categories
      Similar to pages, you can define specific blog categories in which widgets will display.
      Settings include the ability to select from a hierarchy or by PostID. It is also possible to exclude pages using the Post ID
    • Blog Posts
      This is an advanced option where you can specify each post using the Post ID you want the widget to display on. This also works for excluding individual posts.
    • Blog Authors
      In this section, you can select specific authors the widgets will show up for. The posts / page Author can be selected from a drop down individually or multiple Authors can be selected by using their exact ID in the field.
    • Tags
      This option allows you to specify tags in which the widget will match to similarly tagged blog posts.
    • Widget Contents
      In this section you can define your widget contents.  The default selection assumes you’ll be using HTML code in your widget.  In this case, you’d just paste your code into the text area.    With MyInstantWidget Pro,  you are able to toggle on “Switch to Visual Editor”  this button will enable the WordPress default WYSIWYG editor.  With the visual editor enabled, you’ll be able to style text, upload photos / videos / files etc same as you would a normal WordPress post!  All functions are enabled for you to style your widget content as you’d expect!* PHP Execution - This is an advanced feature designed for the tech savvy person to leverage the flexibility of customizable widgets and executable PHP code.  This functionality requires knowledge of PHP to use properly and could have adverse effects on your site if enabled without proper use and knowledge.  Only activate this check-box if you require executable PHP code in your widget.
